Advanced Chemical Industries Ltd( ACI), the leading aggregator of agri inputs in Bangladesh and Patuakhali Science and Technology university(PSTU), one of the most prominent science and technology schools in Bangladesh signed an MoU that would pave the way for the two parties to engage in collaborative measures in many fronts including exchange of resource, knowledge and technical know-how. This will also help ACI bolster Fosholi’s content and hence provide more robust agronomy advisory. The event, comprising of a workshop and a signing ceremony, took place at Patuakhali Science and Technology University in Patuakhali upazilla of Barisal region. Md Shamim Murad, General Manager, Digital Strategy, ACI Agribusiness and Dr Md Harun Ur Rashid, Vice Chancellor, PSTU signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. Also present from ACI were Md Bashir Ahmed, Business Director, ACI Fertilizer and Md Shafiqur Rahman, Project Manager, IDSS ACI Limited. Professor Mohammed Ali, Pro Vice Chancellor, PSTU and Md Golam Rabbani Akanda, Dean, Agriculture Department, PSTU were also present.
Md Bashir Ahmed, speaking at the event as a special guest, stressed the contribution of agriculture in shaping Bangladesh’s economy. Md Shamim Murad, delivered the keynote where he gave a rundown of Fosholi and showed how the application, using GIS & remote sensing technologies, is helping farmers achieve better yields and introducing more intelligent farming techniques. Dr Md Harun Ur Rashid, speaking at the event as the Chief Guest, praised ACI Agribusiness’s pivotal role in digitizing farming in Bangladesh and welcomed its initiatives in popularizing Fosholi in the southern region. The event ended with a Q/A session where Md Shamim Murad answered multifarious questions from the enthusiastic students of PSTU, who, prior to the start of the event, downloaded Fosholi application in droves. They were in awe of the application and provided rave reviews. Earlier in March, 2019, ACI also signed MoUs with Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University in Dinajpur and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in Dhaka.
