Determining the pH and fertility level through soil testing is the first step in the planning of a sound nutrient management program. Pre-plant media analysis provides an indication of potential nutrient deficiencies, pH imbalance or excess soluble salts. This is particularly important for growers who mix their own media. Media testing during the growing season is an important tool for managing crop nutrition and soluble salts levels. Generally, farmers apply fertilizer in land without any proper analysis of the soil quality. The newly launched Soil Diagnosis Center is expected to bridge the gap and help local farmers for effective nutrient management for better yield.
