ACI Seed introduced watermelon ‘Thailand 2’ which is an off-season variety and can be produced in summer. The promising variety had a demonstration at Dumuria, Khulna during May-June 2020. Off-season watermelon is highly-profitable as it can be concurrently cultivated at shrimp farms with little effort. Earlier, shrimp farmers only cultivated vegetables simultaneously. This watermelon variety is a profitable proposition for the farmers as they can get higher prices during off-seasons. ACI’s ‘Thailand 2’ can bring changes in the lives of shrimp farmers by increasing supplementary income significantly.
