Participatory variety selection on new seed potato for Bangladeshi Farmers was organized by ACI Seed in January 2021. This year ACI Seed provided 5 seed potato varieties among farmers namely Aromata, Valencia, Aroma, Cartagena, & Alexia. Among the five varieties sourced from the Netherlands, farmers selected Valencia for mid segment. For early segment Aromata and for late segment Cartagena were selected for next year’s marketing. Cartagena variety has no processing loss and attractive red colour oval shape. Valencia white skin potato bear 8-9 tuber per plant uniform size & Aromata white skin potato having uniform size. All the varieties have average yield of 52-54 MT/Hectare which is more than the traditional variety.
