On 2 April 2022, ACI Seed arranged a Field Day Program on Palee Plus, a leading variety of bitter gourd of East-West Seed dated under M/S Sonali Beej Vander at Madhaiya, Chandina, Cumilla. ACI Seed is giving a special focus on the variety considering the market potentiality. Palee Plus is a long segment variety of Bitter Gourd. The average fruit weight of the variety is 250-300 gm and the average yield is 14-15 MT/Acre. The fruit color is shiny dark green and the fruit length is 25-30 cm. Palee Plus is a year-round variety and the specialty of the variety is about 90% of fruits are same in weight, size, shape and color. To promote the product, ACI Seed is campaigning in the market with the support of East West Seed Bangladesh Limited.
The Seed Team of Cumilla Area arranged the field day program to showcase the performance of the variety to the retailers, farmers and DAE officials. Mr. Yusuf Alam, Asst. Marketing Manager; Mr. Shohag Hossain, Area Sales Executive; Mr. Hamidul Haque, Marketing Officer of ACI Seed; Mr. Mamunur Rahman, Market Development Officer, East West Seed were present in the program. More than 100 farmers and retailers participated in the field day. The Officers discussed the characteristics and performance of the variety. Md. Bashar cultivated Palee Plus in 40 decimal land this year and already harvested 2348 Kg in 6 times. He is expecting to harvest 6 times more from the land.

The participating farmers and retailers were very excited to see the performance of Palee Plus and they understood the difference in terms of fruit size, shape, color, number of fruits with other varieties cultivated in the same area.

ACI and Dutch Team visited RCC on Waste Management Collab

On 25 April 2022, a team from ACI Fertilizer along with their Dutch Partner ‘Ecocreation’ paid a visit to Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). During the visit, the team met with Mr. Sheikh Md. Mamun, Chief Conservancy Officer of RCC. Mr. Mamun had shown the team different existing waste management systems, Secondary Transfer Stations, Landfills etc. in different locations of the city. Mr. Hans Weilinga from Ecocreation (the Netherlands) shared the latest Dutch waste disposal system which can transform organic waste into compost in 24 hours. RCC team has shown their keen interest on this technology and assured that they will cooperate to start a pilot project for waste management in RCC. Everybody in the meeting shared their remarks that this would be a very effective and unique technology for urban waste management in Bangladesh. ACI is planning to start a pilot project in RCC soon. Prabha Aurora, a social enterprise from Bangladesh working with youth on climate change, environment protection and building their ethical and moral values, also visited RCC with this team.
Mr. Bashir Ahmed, Business Director; Mr. Shah Mohammad Arefin, Product Manager and Mr. Khairul Islam, Sales Manager were part of the visiting team from ACI Fertilizer. Homestead waste is a big concern in our urban life and it creates different types of challenges in human life and habitat. Waste management is also a big challenge for municipal and city corporation authorities. Keeping this in mind, ACI is planning to introduce an Eco-digester (Composter) in Bangladesh. By this machine, organic waste can be decomposed to Organic Fertilizer within 24 hours and this fertilizer can be used in agriculture fields.
