ACI Seed, through its unique portfolio “Vegetables-EWS” is joining hands with globally renowned East-West Seed in registering and launching of 71 high-performing and high-quality vegetable seeds which can be highly beneficial to smallholder farmers. On 2 September 2020, the new business launched formally through a virtual program organized by ACI Seed and East West Seed jointly with the direct participation of farmers from demo field, retailers and dealers from shop. MD & CEO, ACI Agribusiness, ACI Seed Head Office and Sales Team, the employees of East West Seed Bangladesh and the high officials of East West Seed India were the guests of the launching event. ACI Seed also conducted a 2-days campaign program all over the country along with the launching program. All varieties under the new business have been tested in Bangladesh with farmers across locations such as Jashore, Mymensingh, Cumilla and Chattogram.
In his remarks, Mr. Dilip Rajan, Managing Director of East-West Seed, said, "Smallholder farmers face many challenges in these difficult times, quality, and transportability of their produce to the marketplace being the major ones. We have chosen to introduce hybrids suitable for the market while offering higher productivity with greater resilience to pests and disease, ensuring a better flavor and experience for the consumers.
