ACI Field Crop Seeds has arranged countrywide potato seed program including field visits, demonstrations and field days in the last two months. In total, 18 Field days and 2 Production field visits for farmers and dealers were organized. The aim of the showcase was to demonstrate the performance of seed potato of ACI Seed especially BARI released varieties i.e. Diamant, Cardinal, Asterix and Granola. The field days and production field visit programs were conducted in farmers’ fields at Chuadanga, Dinajpur, Joypurhat, Jashore, Bogura, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Cumilla and Kishoreganj districts. There were about 2500 potato farmers, dealers and other participants who attended the programs. They got the opportunity to see the performance of potato seeds of ACI in the fields. Tissue culture based potato seeds of ACI Seed were grown to demonstrate and compare their performance. Thus the best performing seeds were selected based on criteria like adaptability, disease resistance ability, and yields. In the production field visit program, training was given to the farmers to support the farmers’ indigenous knowledge and skills in potato production combining scientific knowledge and skills of experts. It created a scope to generate the technologies that fits the environments, the needs and realities of the farmers. Lead farmers, premium customers, local leaders, local journalists, DAE personnel, Field Force, Product Management Team, Production Team and also Head of Business of ACI Seed attended the programs.
