IDSS team is very happy to share an accolade that IDSS Project has attained beyond the borders of Bangladesh. Fosholi, the advisory platform for rice farmers developed under G4AW project, has won Merit Award in the 18th Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Award 2018, held during 9 to 13 October 2018 in Guangzhou, China. We thank our visionary leader, Dr. Arif Dowla, Managing Director, ACI Ltd., Dr. F H Ansary, MD & CEO, ACI Agribusiness, other colleagues and all our well-wishers for their relentless support & guidance in taking IDSS Project and Fosholi to newer heights. Fosholi competed in the award after becoming champion in Agriculture Category in country-round, organized by Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS), the trade body of Bangladeshi IT companies. In APICTA Award, agriculture was clubbed together with sector such as logistics, transportation, energy & utility, manufacturing, engineering & construction under Industrial Category. Fosholi bagged the 2nd highest honor of the category in the competition in Asian Level, the category winner being a logistics related company from China. The awards were declared in a Gala Event after each of the competing projects made a presentation in previous two days in front of a judging panel comprised of senior industry leaders of the region. During our presentation, we found the judges were interested to know and made particular queries about Project Objectives, Satellite Image Processing, Pest & Diseases Algorithm, User Engagement, Benefits to the end-users (the farmers), Sustainability & Business Model, and Feasibility of Replication of Fosholi in other rice producing countries of Asia. The recognition from the industry veterans comes as an encouragement to the IDSS Project team to carry on the crucial work for bringing about tangible change among the lives of small-holder farmers of Bangladesh.
